Does anyone else feel as if Autumn has arrived early this year, or is it just me? With the apples ripening fast on our trees and strong winds blowing them down we decided it was time to pick some before they all end up bruised and broken on the ground.
That meant I had to get the apple peeling machine (it actually peels, slices and cores all in one go so brilliant for batch cooking) and my large pan out to make this year's batch of apple chutney using a recipe that my friend Carol gave me some years ago now.
It takes a few days to do all the cooking and then put it all into jars and label up but this year's batch is now finished and looks like this.
The photo on the front of the label is actually me holding one of last year's beautiful apples. I use the website Jam Labelizer each year to make my labels. You can find them here:

Things seem to be finishing early and the fruit ripening quicker this year, my tomatoes look like they will be finished this next weeks and the runner beans are almost over. Autumn is going to sooner this year
ReplyDeleteJust seen this Jocelyn. Glad you are still enjoying the recipe. Funnily enough I made a big batch this year. First since the beginning of lock down. xx
