Christmas

This time Meg has chosen the theme of Christmas which is great as we all need more cards for the special ones in our lives at this time of year.

I used Joanna Sheen's Christmas in Holly Pond Hill CD for my card. I printed out a sheet of toppers and a backing paper to match. I will use the other toppers for more cards later but I particularly liked this closeup of the two rabbits eating candy canes. I matted everything onto red mirri card . I then used a stamp from Craft Buddy and stamped it in red versafine onto white card. I love these stamps at the moment as they are marked ready to add gems to them. I find it a lovely way to spend time just adding self adhesive gems to the design using a pokey tool. I cut round the candy cane and then added this to my card using foam pads. I added a red bow with snowflakes on it (think this came free with a magazine last Christmas) to finish off.

Off the cutting room floor

Carol has chosen this exciting theme which challenges us to use things we already have printed off and possibly left over from a previous project.

I struggled with this at first but then came across this lovely image which comes from the Verity Rose CD by Crafter's Companion. The blue spotty paper is also on this CD. I had printed out a whole sheet of toppers for a card I made some while ago and thought it would go perfectly with the sunflower backing paper from Popcorn the Bear CD also by Crafter's Companion. This particular backing paper is one of my all time favourites. I took a piece of plain blue card and embossed this with flowers and attached my main image. The sunflower buttons are from a collection I bought when Dawn Bibby used to be on QVC which just goes to show that if we keep things for long enough they will come in handy.

There have been lots of lovely sunflowers about this summer and here are some more.
