Christmas Flowers/foliage

This week Meg has chosen Christmas flowers/foliage for her theme at CD Sunday and I decided I would move away from a traditional card with this wooden fairy door. The base is plain wood and purchased from The Range.

I started by painting the whole thing with a slightly watered down acrylic paint so that some of the grain from the wood still showed through.

While it was drying I printed off some images from the Debbie Moore Christmas Fairies CD. The die cut Merry Christmas on the back of the door is one by Crafters' Companion.

I added gems and glitter to the flowers and berries.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Present

It's Pamela's turn this week to choose the theme for CD Sunday and she has chosen Christmas Present which is very appropriate now we are in December. Where did 2017 go? I'm about to go into my seasonal meltdown as I realise that yet again I haven't started my Christmas crafting early enough!
Anyway at least this one was ready to deliver recently.

I used the following:

House Mouse Decoupage CD
and House Mouse Triple CD Collection
by Joanna Sheen

Stars Signature Die from Joanna Sheen
Merry Christmas die from Crafters' Companion

Mats and layers of gold mirri card and coloured card stock

I added glossy accents to the large tree bulb in the main image and a sparkle pen to the smaller bulbs on the backing paper.

Christmas Things with Wings

It's Jane's turn to choose this fortnight's theme at CD Sunday and we are getting all Christmassy!

We have a new face book page too so don't forget to check us out and come along and play.

I've used Christmas Creations by Joanna Sheen & Giordano CD for the image and used mats and layers of green mirri card, white embossed card with snowflakes and then the main image matted with mirri card again. I then added die cuts to embellish.

Take a Stamp

Well the lurgy has finally caught up with me good and proper! Coughing and spluttering here and achieved absolutely nothing all day today!

I remembered just in time that tomorrow is the start of a new challenge at CD Sunday this time chosen by Carol.

My backing paper is from Floral Fantasy CD by Joanna Sheen.

Dies used:

Spellbinder squares
Tonic deco geometric layering
Intricutz for the lilly of the valley

Stamp is Gardenia by Sherri Baldy - My Besties
Coloured using alcohol pens and shaded with pencils. Glossy Accents for the eyes.

When Autumn Leaves Start to Fall

Okay so who remembers the song by the wonderful Nat King Cole?

Here's a reminder:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEMCeymW1Ow

I also found a version by Eva Cassidy but Nat is still the best for me.

Anyway based on that song I chose my theme for this fortnight at CD Sunday Challenge Blog and came up with this card.

I used Joanna Sheen's House Mouse Triple CD Collection Disc 3 for the images and backing paper.

This was a new shape card for me and I googled to find a tutorial to make it It is made of two pieces of card. I think this photo shows it better.

I used green card for my base and covered it with the backing paper and used lilac card for the smaller piece and again covered it with the backing paper. The main image is mounted onto both colours of card for the front with a sentiment and smaller image inside. I then die cut a few extra leaves out of left over backing paper and decoupaged these onto the card.

As I type I'm trying to remember the measurements for the card - just need to go and look at something so I'll be back in a minute.

Sometimes I even amaze myself! I actually found the piece of paper I had written the measurements on. So what you need is two pieces of card measuring 11 x 4 inches and 11 x 2 inches. These need to be scored at 2 3/4 inches and 5 1/2 inches. Hopefully you can see from the photo above how these join together with the smaller card turned the opposite way to the larger one.

With all the wind we have had here in Bexhill there are lots of autumn leaves starting to fall so a great time for crafting.

For the Love of Dogs

This challenge at CD Sunday is For the Love of Dogs chosen by Margaret.

I used the Times Gone By CD from Joanna Sheen using artwork by Glynn Williams for this lovely image and backing paper.

I mounted the backing paper onto kraft card and then added some ribbon. I stamped the paws onto kraft card and used a Wow embossing powder. I mounted the main image onto some green mirri card that is nearly the same shade as the door in the picture. I then stamped and embossed the word awesome and added a separate letter P to make the word 'Pawesome' :-)

Don't forget to check out the CD Sunday blog for more inspiration and details of what you need to do to join in.

Mellow Yellow

It's Wynn's turn to choose our theme and we've gone all Mellow for the new challenge at CD Sunday - Mellow Yellow in fact. The team have some great inspiration to show you so don't forget to go over to CD Sunday Challenge Blog and find out what you need to do to join in. The rules are quite simple - we just need you to use a CD somewhere in your design and credit it so that we know which one you used.

My image and backing papers are from Flower Fairies Friends - Fairies of the Garden Disc 7 - Marigold from Crafter's Companion. I built up a few mats and layers using dies that give a stitched effect around the edge. There are quite a few makes of dies with stitching effects and I really like these for a bit of extra detail. I used the backing paper for die cutting the matching flowers too and buried in my stash were some skeleton leaves that have not seen the light of day for a very long time but I think they look pretty with this design. The centre of the flowers are made up using little gems and I then just added a bow.

I hope you have fun playing with Mellow Yellow and we would love to see you joining in with our challenge.

CAS

The new challenge chosen by Meg is CAS over at CD Sunday. All you need to do to join in is use something from a CD in your design and give credit to the CD. All the information you need is on CD Sunday Challenge Blog so why not check it out and then join us.

This cute little fella comes from Morehead CD by Crafter's Companion. I've embossed the white background and mounted it onto black card. I then added a little stamped sentiment.

The team have lots more things to show so don't forget to go and take a look at CD Sunday Challenge Blog.

Let's Hear it for the Boys

Pamela's turn to choose the challenge this time and what a great theme. There is lots of inspiration for you over on CD Sunday so do go and take a look.

The image is from Click Print Go by My Craft Studio - Classic Art Deco to make an A5 landscape card. I've backed it onto black card and used the same black card to cut the letters and the figure. Both dies are from Tattered Lace.  I used glossy accents on the headlights.

A quick and simple one this time around but sometimes less is more.

Past Times

Our Jane has chosen Past Times as her theme for CD Sunday this time and we have had some fun with this one. I do hope you will too.

I love these little characters and was so pleased when Katy Sue Designs did two CDs featuring the artwork of Mabel Lucie Attwell a few years ago. (Just looked on the back of the box and it says 2012! Time flies when you are having crafting fun :-) ).

I used a distress ink pad around the backing paper to age it and then roughed up the edges with a little gadget designed for the purpose. The geranium  and delphinium dies are from Joanna Sheen. The flower pots are one of the original Sizzix dies. I even used some flower soft on the delphiniums.

My fellow teamies have some lovely makes to show you so do make sure you go and visit. x

Anything Goes

Time for a new CD Sunday challenge again! Carol has chosen this time and decides that Anything Goes!

I have to say I loved doing this card for my step daughter Becky. Lots of scope to play with Carol's choice of Anything Goes so I went for it!

I used a backing paper from The Lace Collection CD from Creative Crafting World. A great CD with lots of lovely lacy designs that are useful for so many occasions. For the next layer I played with stamps and distress inks and then splashed some water at it! I then took some white card and stamped it with a great stamp and sentiment by Sheena Douglas, available from Crafter's Companion. I used a stitched effect die to cut the square image out. The stamping is done in brown Momento ink and coloured using alcohol marker pens. I finished the hair using Spectrum Noir pencils. The goggles have Glossy Accents to look like glass. I then used copper card to cut out the pipes, cogs and flowers. The only other ingredients were white button brads and clear gems for the centres of the cogs and flowers.

I'm looking forward to see what everyone else makes for this challenge. Don't forget to visit CD Sunday Challenge Blog for details of how to enter.

Celebrating in Style

We were in Waterford Castle, Ireland over the weekend helping to celebrate the wedding of George and Hannah. George is my dear friend Sue's son. We had a whole weekend with friends that I have known since school days. Happy days!

Celebration

Ooo it's my turn to choose the theme for CD Sunday today.

I decided it's time to celebrate so let's see what special occasions you have or will be celebrating with us.

I decided to celebrate an anniversary with this card.

I used Click Print Go Classic Art Deco by My Craft Studio for the view from the window. The couple and the furniture inside the room are dies by Tattered Lace. I used Spellbinders large square dies to make the silver frame and layered it onto lilac and then black card before attaching to an 8 x 8 ready folded card. The purple and cream paper is from a deco paper pack I purchased from Joanna Sheen some years ago.

I do hope you will have fun with this challenge - there are so many occasions to celebrate and we would love to see your ideas and creations.

Don't forget to visit CD Sunday Challenge Blog to see what you need to do to enter.

Up the Garden Path

A new month already and we have a new challenge over at CD Sunday. This time is was Margaret's turn to choose the theme. Let's all go 'up the garden path' to see what we can find!

My papers and image all come from Journey to Wonderland II by Debbi Moore. There are some lovely whimsical images on this CD. The die cut sentiment if from Crafter's Companion. I used some little punches to cut out the heart, club, diamond and spade in black and red card and then glazed them.

I do hope you will have fun with this challenge.

Sun, Sand or Sea

As we are in the middle of a heatwave here this week's challenge chosen by Wynn is very appropriate - especially as I live by the sea :-)

I've used a 5 x 7" card for this design. The backing paper and images are from Holly Pond Hill CD by Joanna Sheen. I've matted everything onto blue card and them added Marianne dies for the lighthouse, shells and seagull.

Talking of seagulls we have lots here at the moment and all the fluffy chicks have just hatched. We have some that live on the flat roof at the back of the office that have been adopted by the girls I work with. The parents even knock on the window for biscuits at coffee time! They have been coming back for about 3 years now.

Anyway I digress - my fellow teamies have some fab things to show you so please visit CD Sunday Challenge Blog to check out how to enter.

Shabby Chic

The weeks are flying by so quickly and already it's time for a new challenge at CD Sunday.

Meg has chosen Shabby Chic for us this time around and I hope you will have as much fun with it as we have.

I've used a 7 x 10 card for my base. The images and backing papers are from Debbi Moore's Shabby Chic Vintage Flowers. For the die cut flowers I used parchment with tiny button brads for the centres. I added some cream lace and organza edged satin ribbon for the bow. I love this ribbon it is so soft to the touch. I added a little flower charm and some die cut butterflies.

Now all you need to do is go over to CD Sunday Challenge Blog to find out what you need to do to join in.

Say it with Flowers

Time for another challenge at CD Sunday. Pamela has chosen the theme this time.

So lets say it with flowers:

I've used one of my favourite images and backing papers from Crafter's Companion Popcorn the Bear - Florals CD. I've matted everything onto some orange card and added a few gems. The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed with gold.

We are hoping to see lots of lovely floral creations and my fellow teamies have some lovely things to show you so don't forget to visit CD Sunday Challenge Blog for all the details of how to join in.

Anything Asian

Well it's time already for another fun challenge at CD Sunday.

Last time was Carol's sketch and she will be choosing her winners soon. Meanwhile Jane has picked Anything Asian and we hope you will have lots of fun with this one. There are some very different interpretations from my fellow teamies for you to enjoy so do go on over to CD Sunday and take a look.

Here is my card:

Ingredients:

Eastern Treasures CD by Joanna Sheen
Embossing folder from Crafters' Companion
Rectangle die from Spellbinders
Circle die from Spellbinders
Creative Expressions metallic guilding polish - citrus green
Bakers Twine
Ribbon
Chinese coins

I used a 6 x 6" base for my card and covered it with the backing paper that matches the topper from the CD. I then die cut and oblong and a circle in black card using dies by Spellbinders. I used an embossing folder from Crafters' Companion from the Kimono range on white card and then rubbed citrus green metallic guilding polish over the top. I used another die to cut the white card and wrapped the bakers twine around it before matting it onto the black card. I then attached it to my card.

I matted the topper onto the decorative circle black card and attached this to the front of my card.

I then just finished off with some ribbon and Chinese coins.

I do hope you will join us for this challenge (don't forget to use something from a CD) and look forward to visiting your blogs.

Sketch

Wow there were some lovely cards for last week's challenge!

This week it is Carol's turn to choose a theme for CD Sunday Challenge Blog and she has a sketch for us.

I really enjoyed making my DT card for this challenge and here it is.

The CD I have used is Kevin Wood's Treasured Teddies by Creative Crafting World.

The white background is embossed and matted onto plain lilac card. The lace backing paper from the CD is matted onto the same lilac card. I then cut around the teddy and added him to the lacy background. The greeting is a LOTV stamp on the lacy paper and embossed with gold WOW embossing powder and mounted onto the lilac card. The flowers are die cuts using scraps. The fern is a Marianne die and I added pearls to the flowers.

For details of how to enter visit CD Sunday Challenge Blog. It's easy really - just use a CD somewhere in your design and don't forget to let us know which one.

Spring Colours and a Birthday Celebration!

Pauline has chosen Spring Colours for her theme choice this time and we also have a birthday celebration going on. CD Sunday Challenge Blog is 7 on the 18th April so there is a special prize for this challenge.

Drum roll please ...........

Secret Slider by Tattered Lace

For all the details just visit CD Sunday Challenge Blog and find out how you could be in with a chance of winning this super prize, Remember you MUST use something from a CD and let us know which one you have used.

My fellow teamies have lots to show you so please visit their blogs and leave them some love.

Here is my make for this week.

I used a  backing paper from Joanna Sheen's The Card Makers Year CD matted and layered onto green card followed by silver mirri and then onto yellow.I wrapped two ribbons around the card and tied bows to one side. I then die cut some leafy swirls (Petite Vinery by Sue Wilson at Creative Expressions) from matching card and added lots of gems.

The main image is a Match-It flower fairy peel off which I then layered onto yellow and silver mirri card.

Happy Easter everyone.

PS: I'm sorry I'm late posting but have had a bit of a set back in my recovery from the pneumonia I had at Christmas. I still haven't had a clear chest x-ray and have caught a chesty cough  over the last few days! I had my third chest x-ray since being in hospital this morning so fingers crossed! Hoping I get the results before Easter but it may not be ready in time.

Any Old Iron

This week it's my turn to choose a theme at CD Sunday so I'm calling out for any old iron - altogether now......

"Any old iron? Any old iron? Any, any, any old iron? You look neat. Talk about a treat! You look so dapper from your napper to your feet. Dressed in style, brand-new tile, And your father's old green tie on. But I wouldn't give you tuppence for your old watch and chain, Old iron, old iron."

I've kept this one fairly simple as I didn't want to detract from the beautiful artwork featured on this CD by Debs. It was made using artwork by her very talented Mum, Tina Cottis.

I used an embossing folder behind the main image to give a watery feel.

My 'any old iron' is the dragonfly. I've had it absolutely ages, it is made of rusty tin from a company called Tinz. I covered it in glue and allowed it to go tacky and then used a scrap of foil over it which gives that oil on water look. I just added some pretty ribbon and gems in toning colours to finish.

Now it's your turn!

All you need to do is pop over to CD Sunday Challenge Blog where you will find all the details you need to enter the challenge. Just remember to let us know which CD you have used.

There will be lots of inspiration waiting for you at CD Sunday Challenge Blog from all my fellow teamies.

Isn't that a great image!

The team have had a lot of fun with this one so don't forget to visit CD Sunday and check it out. You will also find all the information you will need to enter the challenge.

Meanwhile here is my card:

All the elements on this card are from   Everyday in Moonbeam Meadow by Crafters' Companion       CD except the doily and ribbons that I have added to the centre of the buttons.

Punch it out

It is Wynn's turn to choose the theme for CD Sunday and she has chosen 'Punch it out'. There are lots of ideas for this challenge but I decided to take it quite literally with these two characters from Dover Press Clip Art CD The Gibson Girls.

I've given them some colour using Spectrum Noir pencils.

The backing paper is from Polkadoodles Pretty Tuff CD which has some lovely papers on it and I matted the layers onto kraft card. I then used a couple of dies to cut out the stars and layered these around the images. I finished off with a ribbon and bow made with raffia.

I hope you will enjoy this challenge and join in. Don't forget to use something from a CD and tell us which you used.

My fellow teamies have lots of inspiration for you at CD Sunday Challenge Blog

Friendship, love and romance

We have a new challenge for you over at CD Sunday and Meg has chosen the theme this time. There is lots of lovely inspiration from the team and also some news that we are excited about.

My card is a slightly unusual valentine card and I hope you like it!

I have used My Craft Studio - A Very Important Date CD to create the top layer of my card.

The mats and layers have been cut using large square dies from Sizzix and the letters are from a Britannia die. The heart die is from Crafter's Companion.

Do what you love

This new challenge was chosen by Pamela at CD Sunday and I have managed to make a card for this using Joanna Sheen's House Mouse Triple CD Collection. I decided that a combination of House Mouse and chocolate are what I love!

I've just added a doily, some ribbon and a few flat backed pearls.

I'm still making slow progress but not back at work just yet.

Make it Male

It is Carol's turn this time to choose the theme for CD Sunday and she is asking us to 'Make it Male'. A great idea as a lot of us struggle with cards for men.

Here is mine:

Ingredients:

I've used the Tweedies CD from Crafter's Companion for the main image and backing paper and went with a DL card for a change.
The dies are:

Words - Fuzzy Lemon
Beach Huts - Signature Dies by Joanna Sheen
Seagull - Marianne Craftables

This is a very short post from me as I am still recovering from pneumonia and I run out of energy very quickly. I am however a lot better than when I was admitted to hospital at Christmas and am grateful for that. I just need to make sure I don't overdo things.

Getting to my craft room is difficult at the moment as it is at the top of the house (seemed like a good idea at the time!). There are a lot of stairs to negotiate and at the moment stairs leave me breathless so I have to be careful.

Happy crafting everyone. xx

Something New

Happy New Year everyone and a new challenge today too!

Pauline has chosen 'Something New' for her CD Sunday challenge.

My card is for a Happy New Year and I've used a new fold for my card.

The fold I used was featured in Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.

The backing paper is from Joanna Sheen's The Cardmaker's Year CD.

The clock die is by Marianne and the cogs I think are Britannia.

Unfortunately I have been in hospital for 5 days over Christmas and am very behind with blogging. It's going to take a while before I am back up to speed. The Consultant said it could be as much as 6 months. Please bear with me and I will do my best! x
