Christmas Old or New

This time it was my turn to choose the theme and it's the last one for 2018. I decided to have Christmas Old or New so whatever your style you are sure to find something to join in our challenge.

I decided to go for 'Old' with a traditional scene. The decoupage topper and backing paper came from Joanna Sheen's Nostalgia Collection CD featuring Paintings by Kevin Walsh.

There are quite a few layers to this scene and once I had cut them all out I layered the base topper onto some beautiful silver glitter card from Crafter's Companion. This is the sparkly-ist glitter card I have ever come across and it is smooth so things stick nicely to it and it doesn't shed - perfect!

I printed the backing paper onto some pretty paper that has a shimmer to it for extra sparkle and then covered all the snowy parts of the scene with glitter so going for maximum sparkle on this one.

All I had to to then was add a die cut Merry Christmas from Crafter's Companion and three small snowflakes with a gem in the middle of each.

As this one is the last challenge of 2018 I would just like to finish by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, may it be everything you would wish for, and a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Blue and White

This week we have a blue and white theme from Margaret.

I already had this image from Bebunni Baby CD from Crafter's Companion printed out and thought it would make a lovely new baby card for a friend.

I used a Martha Stewart punch to thread the satin ribbon through and then added a bow. I used two different shades of blue card for mounting the backing paper and main image and added a light blue foiled paper to the side panel.

I also printed out an insert with verse from the CD for the inside.

Winter Wonderland

This time Wynne has chosen the theme of Winter Wonderland which has had me humming the tune, especially the line 'in the meadow we can build a snowman' which gave me the idea for my card.

I used a Joanna Sheen CD which features the artwork of Giordano called Christmas Creations. There are some lovely jolly images on this CD and I chose this snowman and friends image. I used a 7 x 10 card as this is a lovely big image. I mounted the backing paper onto some gold embossed card and attached this to my card and then added the topper. I used a die from Crafter's Companion for the Merry Christmas sentiment. The holly leaves are a Britannia die. I just added some little red pearls and a bow to finish my design.

Christmas

This time Meg has chosen the theme of Christmas which is great as we all need more cards for the special ones in our lives at this time of year.

I used Joanna Sheen's Christmas in Holly Pond Hill CD for my card. I printed out a sheet of toppers and a backing paper to match. I will use the other toppers for more cards later but I particularly liked this closeup of the two rabbits eating candy canes. I matted everything onto red mirri card . I then used a stamp from Craft Buddy and stamped it in red versafine onto white card. I love these stamps at the moment as they are marked ready to add gems to them. I find it a lovely way to spend time just adding self adhesive gems to the design using a pokey tool. I cut round the candy cane and then added this to my card using foam pads. I added a red bow with snowflakes on it (think this came free with a magazine last Christmas) to finish off.

Off the cutting room floor

Carol has chosen this exciting theme which challenges us to use things we already have printed off and possibly left over from a previous project.

For all the details of how to enter visit our blog - CD Sunday Challenge Blog.

I struggled with this at first but then came across this lovely image which comes from the Verity Rose CD by Crafter's Companion. The blue spotty paper is also on this CD. I had printed out a whole sheet of toppers for a card I made some while ago and thought it would go perfectly with the sunflower backing paper from Popcorn the Bear CD also by Crafter's Companion. This particular backing paper is one of my all time favourites. I took a piece of plain blue card and embossed this with flowers and attached my main image. The sunflower buttons are from a collection I bought when Dawn Bibby used to be on QVC which just goes to show that if we keep things for long enough they will come in handy.

There have been lots of lovely sunflowers about this summer and here are some more.

Autumn Days

This is a lovely challenge for this time of year just as all the leaves on the trees are turning and putting on a wonderful show. Jane has chosen this theme for us.

I used the Fairyopolis CD from Crafter's Companion for my card. I printed out a sheet from the decoupage section for this lovely fairy image and used glue gel to layer all the pieces as there are lots of layers and I didn't want it to get too high. I matted the image onto chocolate card from Creative Crafting World and did the same with the backing paper. I then used a leaf die from Crafter's Companion for the leaves and then passed them through an embossing folder to get some veins on the leaves. I rubbed these lightly with metallic coloured waxes (I've had these for years and originally got them from QVC back in the day). I finished off my card with some frosted berries on wire stems that I got very cheaply on the internet last year.

G is for ...

GERANIUM !

Hasn't it been a wonderful summer for geraniums! Ours have been amazing this year and put on a wonderful show so when Carol decided to have 'G' is for .... for her theme I just had to choose this pretty Geranium Fairy from a DB Cardmaking CD called Garden Flower Fairies. The backing papers are from the same CD and I matted everything onto black card before attaching it to an 8 x 8 pre-scored card. The stamp is from Lili of the Valley and the dies are as follows:

Flower petals - Britannia dies

Flower stems - Sizzix Tim Holtz Wild Flowers
Black Leaves and scalloped circle die - Desire Easel die

Beautiful Blooms

It's my turn to chose the theme for CD Sunday Challenge Blog and my theme is 'Beautiful Blooms'.

I have made this card for a friend who is expecting a baby.

The backing paper is from The Dreamy Flowers Collection CD by Hinny Bop Designs. I printed one off in the original colour of yellow shades for the strip and paper piecing for the dress and also printed another sheet of the same design in monotone. All my layers are matted onto a charcoal coloured card. The oval dies are by Crea-Nest-Lies XXL No. 23. I used an Altenew stamp set for the central flowers and leaves and the little figure holding her baby bump is a rubber stamp by Crafty Sentiments Designs called Welcome Little One.

I then die cut a piece of shrink plastic (something I haven't used for ages) and stamped it with a wooden stamp I've had for a very long time along with some leaves from the Altenew set. I then die cut a few leaves from a Britannia die which is a strip of leaves using some sticky backed paper.

I do hope you will craft along with us and join in this challenge. For all the details of how to enter and also our few little rules we would like you to follow just go on over to the CD Sunday Challenge Blog.

Happy 8th Birthday to CD Sunday Challenge Blog

Its time for the Birthday Challenge at CD Sunday and on the 18th April the challenge will be 8 years old! As it is Carol's birthday this month as well she has chosen our theme and she has designed a sketch for us to follow/interpret.

Here it is:

I hope you will have lots of fun with this and don't forget to use some element from a crafting CD and tell us which CD you used. For more inspiration do go to CD Sunday Challenge Blog and see what my fellow teamies have been doing.

Here is my card:

I used The Lace Collection CD by Creative Crafting World for my backing papers which I mounted onto a pretty shade of blue card

Ingredients:

Rub down foiled butterflies from Crafters Companion
Embossed Jug and Doily embossing folder by Joanna Sheen
Die cut stitches ovals by Creative
Flower stems and fronds by Elizabeth crafts
The flowers are made using a small floral die which I think was from Britannia. The top part of the flowers I cut by hand from the lilac backing paper with tiny gems added for the centres.

No patterned papers

Meg is challenging us this time around at CD Sunday with 'no patterned papers'.

Here is my offering

I used Fairyopolis CD by Crafter's Companion for the decoupaged fairy on the front. There are some lovely little fairies on this CD using the artwork of Cicely Mary Barker. It is a triple disc set and I used my image from the Spring folder.  I mounted this onto some green card cut with an edge die and added some pretty yellow spotty ribbon.

Here you can see the layers of decoupage raised up on foam pads.

Inside the card I made a pop up greeting using a stamp from Lili of the Valley and a Wiper die from Tattered Lace which makes the mechanism for the pop up. I added a panel for a written message and the daffodil die cut is from Joanna Sheen's Signature collection.

Happy Easter everyone and I hope the Easter Bunny has smiled upon you this weekend. I'm just trying to get over a cold that sneaked up on me just as I was recovering from a stomach bug I got while we were in India! Hopefully I've had my share for a while.

In the Wild

This week's new challenge at CD Sunday is In the Wild chosen by Jane.

I made my card for a friend who is monkey mad. She even has one of her own that she sponsors.

For this card I used an image and backing paper from Animal Antics CD from Joanna Sheen. I have had a pile of A5 card and matching envelopes from Craft Creations for ages and it was nice to be able to use one for this card. I just matted the image and bp onto brown cardstock and added a green ribbon, a couple of die cuts and some candy. The recipient was very pleased on Friday when we gave her the card at work along with a voucher so that she can get her very own commemorative paving stone at Monkey World.

I lined the envelope with the same backing paper just to make it extra special.

Up Up and Away

Thank you for joining in my challenge choice last time. This week it is Carol's turn to choose and she has come up with a lovely these of Up, up and away. Lots of scope there for ideas of all sorts. The team have some wonderful things for you to look at over at CD Sunday and here is my idea.

The backing paper is from Crafters Companion Everyday CD. I matted this onto some pink card before attaching it to my white card. The die cut silhouette is from spellbinders and comes with a few extra balloons which I cut in different coloured card and added to my design.

All the rules for entering this latest challenge are on the CD Sunday Challenge Blog and we would love you to join in either there or on our facebook page.

Vintage Love

Another new challenge for CD Sunday and it's my turn to choose the theme and provide a prize so I hope you will be able to join us this time around.

I've used Victorian Romance CD by Joanna Sheen. This is an old CD but has some lovely images and backing papers on it.  I matted the backing paper and the main image onto brown card after distressing the edges of the paper. I love this as forget me nots (Myosotis) are some of my favourite flowers, partly for the lovely blue colour but also for the meaning of the flowers.

  • In 15th-century Germany, it was supposed that the wearers of the flower would not be forgotten by their lovers.
  • In medieval times, it was often worn by ladies as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love.

I have added a lace border and used a die cut that came from Crafter's Companion Advent Calendar 2017, cut once in green and then again in blue. Blue flowers were cut out and stuck on top then stuck to lace and each gem added separately for the centres of the flowers. I then used two heart die cuts in one corner.

I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's day but this theme would also be nice for a Mother's Day card or just to send some love to a friend.

Winter in the Mountains

I've used Pollyanna Pickering's 'A Winter's Tale' CD for my card this week for the main image and the backing paper. I started with a cream 8 x 8 card and layered the backing paper and main image onto brown card. I then used a Martha Stewart punch to make the fan border and added some brown sparkly gems. I added a piece of brown ribbon and a happy birthday die from Crafters' Companion cut from gold mirri. This was for my husband's 70th birthday last weekend.

J is for

Jive and Jukebox.

I can't believe it is now 2018! I hope the new year has been kind to you so far. Let's make 2018 a wonderfully crafty one.

I used two cds to make my 8x8 card. the backing papers and topper of the dancing couple are from Strictly Card Dancers CD from Card Creations Plus+ and the records are from Debbi Moore Rock & Roll CD. The Jukebox is a Tonic die and the letters are from a Tattered Lace die.

CD Sunday challenge now has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog you will find the page here.

I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site. Remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you have used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  and I look forward to seeing you soon.  x
